Sick

On Saturday, my eyes were watering and my nose was running. I thought I was just experiencing hayfever. So I took a Telfast and kept going. I did the same on Sunday. My throat startd hurting on Sunday afternoon.

On Monday when I woke up, I felt like I should stay in bed. Glen need to drop off his car at the LPG conversion place, and I needed to drop him off at work. So I got up and took another Telfast hoping that it would make me feel a bit better. It didn’t. I grabbed some Soothers to try to help my throat.

I got to work and only lasted about 3 hours. When I got home, I went straight to bed.

I woke up on Tuesday and felt better than Monday, but I still wasn’t feeling fantastic. I made a doctor’s appointment. The doctor asked me what was wrong and I said that I thought I had bad hayfever or maybe the flu.

Wrong. The doctor did the normal tests; I am running a fever; I have an infection (throat or respiratory) and; I am on antibiotics. The doctor said that I was actually quite sick and I must be handling it better than other people. I don’t think so, I feel really crappy today. Ugh.

Check Up

This morning I had my 3 month check up with Dr Fleming.  It was longer than 3 months but its first time that both of our schedules allowed.  I got a call last night from Cate (Dr Fleming’s Office Manager) to make sure that I would be on time as the Day Surgery Facility changed his theatre times.  Out of all of his appointments that were scheduled for early this morning (my appt was for 7:45am), I was the only one that turned up!  Talking to Cate, people are always running late or just don’t turn up.  At least one of the other people that booked an appt called to say they couldn’t make it, but I still think thats rough.  It’s not like they can call someone to schedule an appt to make up for the gap at 7:30 in the morning for an appt at 8.

Dr Fleming is very happy with the results and the scars.  I asked him about losing some weight / toning up and he said that if I was unhappy with the look of my boobs after, I would just have to put some weight back on… LOL.. Toss up – nice boobs or big bum…  I’ll just have to see what they look like when I’ve toned up a little.

If you’re in the market for some cosmetic work, I can absolutely recommend Dr Fleming.  Go to www.breastimplantsaustralia.com – he does do more than just breast implants too.

Intimo

On Saturday, I went to an Intimo Party at friend’s place. The Intimo Consultant was the lady who was the consultant for my party that I held maybe six years ago.  Deb is really great and she has the best personality.  The hostess of the party, Liza, and I were talking about how we first got into getting the Intimo range of bras & lingerie.  We figured out that Liza came to my first party and Liza’s had regular parties ever since.

I haven’t had an Intimo Party in a while.  So I’ve booked a party for 16th September.  It’s great because they have lots of beautiful bras that fit me. YAY!

First Bra Post Op

When I went to my six week post op appointment with Dr Fleming, he gave me the go ahead to get a bra. After six weeks, I was bloody happy to allowed to wear one again. So the next day when I was working in the city, I went to David Jones to get my first bra. I wouldn’t normally go to David Jones to buy clothes – I am not a fashionista or anything – I just went there because they have people that size you properly.

So Mindy and I went down to David Jones. It took ages for us to find someone that actually worked there. We walked up to a lady that worked there and I said something to the effect of “Hi, I need some help in getting a new bra. I’ve just had a boob job, so I don’t have a good idea of what size I’ll be.” I told her that I had found a website that told me how to take measurements so I would know my bra size. According to that website, I should be a 10D.

The lady grabbed a couple of 10D bras and we headed to the fitting rooms. Then she had an idea. There were all the reps from the Lingerie companies there. She asked all these ladies to help me. So the DJ’s worker left me with about 8 sales reps. I tried on the 10D bra and then opened the door to the fitting room. I said to Mindy that it felt ok and it looked ok – then one of the reps came in and went “Oh no sweetheart, you are a lot bigger than a D”. One of the other reps at the back said to another rep “Go and grab that new 10E bra that’s just come in.”

I turned to Mindy and said “Did I just hear right? Did she say 10E?”. Mindy nodded. The closest rep to me said that the E cup is two cups bigger than a D (the DD is between D & E).

The 10E fits. Yay. All the reps had to have a squish of the girls. I suppose not many people are quite as open about getting a boob job and getting felt up. LOL.

Let me tell you, after my initial fitting, I have not had much luck finding 10E bras. I bought a 10DD on sale and I squish into it. So, if you find any good 10E bras (on sale), let me know.

Headaches

I have had a weird headache all week. Yesterday, it got considerably worse while I was at work. After walking to Post Office Square to get some lunch, I stood for quite a while, just willing myself not to vomit.

Because I had already ordered some lunch, I sat down with my friend Mindy and tried to eat it.  Let’s just say that I didn’t eat very much and I went back to the office.

I was at my desk, trying not to move (as you do when you think you’re going to be sick) and I thought should I get Glen to come pick me up as I don’t want to vomit on the train home.  At least while feeling nauseous, I forgot about the killer headache I had.

Paul (from work) bundled me up and put me in a taxi.  The taxi driver kept trying to make small talk, but I was too busy trying not to vomit.  I told him that I wasn’t feeling too well and he seemed to stop trying after that.  Sorry mate – thought you would appreciate me not vomiting in your car.

I still have the headache today, so I’m going to go get a massage – hope it helps as the panadine forte hasn’t.

Owning Up

I suppose this will come out eventually and they’ve been bugging me for a couple of days.

On the 30th of May 2007, I had breast augmentation surgery. So here’s the story of the surgery.

My surgery was scheduled for 1230. I had to be at the Clinic by 1100 for admission (they had sent out my forms before the surgery and I had to post them back in, so I didn’t have to do them on the day). I had a call the day before surgery from the Clinic giving me a timeline. Admission @ 1100. Surgery @ 1230. Arrive in recovery @ 1400. Released to go home between 1630 – 1800. The Clinic didnt give me anything to help me sleep the night before and I had to fast from 0600.I arrived at the Clinic on time but they were running late (oh joy). I was finally admitted at 1140 and was on the move from there. I was taken straight up to the surgery level of the building. I was given a gown (the ties were broken – can you believe it??), dressing gown (yay – my bum wasn’t getting flashed around), surgery slippers & shower cap (mine was red because I have an allergy to some medications). I was told to go to the toilet and then wait in the OR Waiting Room.

I was in there for maybe 2 minutes and then I was called into a Consultation Room. My Dr’s Nurse came in to see how I was doing and checked my pulse & blood pressure – pulse was 101 per minute… She said to wait in the Room and Dr Fleming would be in to see me in about 5 minutes. This seemed to drag on. Dr Fleming came in and took before photos and got me to sign a form saying that I give him permission to perform the BA in the Clinic. Then about 5 minutes later the Anesthetist came in. She told me that she was going to monitor me for the entire surgery and she would take good care of me. The nurse came back in and told me it was time to come through.

Everyone was really great – patting me on the hand – the nurse actually put her arm around me saying that she’d like me as her daughter & she has 3 sons if I was available – lol.

I walked down the corridor to the OR, and it was great that it was all girls except for Dr Fleming. I got up on the table, I looked at the clock, 1230, right on time. The Anesthetist put the heart monitor things on my back and I laid down. Then she put in the drip into my hand and they put the oxygen mask on and the nurse said to me, “Be good”. I could taste the meds, and that was it.

I woke up in recovery and asked the nurse if Dr Fleming has already been in to see me. She said that I had already spoken to him… hrm… didnt remember. I started to feel sick and some pain so I told the nurse. She gave me some pills. After a while, they said they’ll grab my boyfriend so he can come in for a visit. They didn’t let him stay for long as it tires you out. The nurse brought my clothes in and said for me to get dressed when I felt up to it. She said maybe in a half hour. In that half hour, I started to feel sicker and sicker. The nurse came in and said that it had been the half hour and to try to get changed. I sat up and got changed. It really took it out of me. There was blood on the bed so I thought I was still bleeding but the nurse said that I wasn’t. I laid back down.

In about another 10 minutes, the nurse came in and said that I should try to eat something. She walked me out to the OR Recovery Waiting Room (why aren’t all waiting rooms like this? Recliner chairs, food on tables, drinks etc available for purchase if you were waiting) where I had lemonade & a salad sandwich waiting for me. I took one bite of the sandwich. Cue vomit. Tried some lemonade. I kept the lemonade down. After a while, my boyfriend asked if I would be ok for the ride home as he would like to beat peak hour. The nurses said I would be ok and gave me heaps of vomit bags. They were great. Once you’ve been sick you twirl the bag around and lock it into place and then just throw them out. Much better than the bucket I had in mind!

The ride home went well. No vomiting at all. I was too busy giving my other half directions how to get home. He’s a shocker. Once we got home, he cooked me some food hoping I would keep it down. I needed to take the pain killers and antibiotics with food. I ate and took the pills and within 10 minutes I was vomiting. I went sleep on my pillow fort still feeling crook…

The next morning, I tried to eat again. No luck, kept vomiting. My boyfriend called my Dr. He said “Stop the pain killers.” I’m sorry what did you just say?

The clinic did a follow up phone call on Friday. The nurse asked me how I was doing… Hrm – Im still throwing up and I haven’t taken any pain killers. I haven’t eaten properly since Tuesday. She said that if I was still throwing up on Sunday to call my Dr and get different antibiotics as that could be causing me to feel crook. Funnily enough, Sunday was the first day I didn’t throw up.

On Friday & Saturday, I cried. I was hurting, vomiting and couldn’t get comfortable. I hadn’t slept properly and I had started to go a bit nutty being not able to do anything.

Sunday on the other hand was fantastic! I woke up feeling bloody great. I had a bowl of porridge and took my antibiotic and felt great. My boyfriend took me for a walk around the backyard and my cat came as well.

So getting back to the reason that I started this entry, I think my nerves are healing as they are majorly sore. All of a sudden I’ll get this sharp zinging pain in a certain area and it’s quite hard to stop myself from grabbing them. I’m sure its a good look.

Here’s what they looked like before the op:

And this is what they looked like 2 weeks after surgery (they have since dropped):

I will write about my first bra purchase post op soon.

Mouth Ulcer

I’ve developed an ulcer on the inner top part of my top lip.  It hurts quite a lot because whenever I talk or eat it rubs on my gum. I was thinking of what heals these buggers.

I had a flashback to when Glen and I were in the process of moving down to Brisbane and we were staying with friends.  I got an ulcer and my friends told me to put salt on it.  I tried it and it hurt like hell.  Glen told me that I wasn’t putting enough salt onto it to even make a difference.  So he got a wop load on his finger and held it there.  I had tears rolling down my cheeks.  I should let you know that this salt torture did not work.

Maybe there isn’t a quick fix that I’m willing to try.

Hair Cut at Just Cuts

I just went and had a style cut at Just Cuts at Springfield Orion. I had a shopper docket from Big W, so the actual cut only cost $18. Normally a cut costs $22. Bargain. I can’t believe how fantastic the cut actually is. I have had my hair cut at Jon Le Court for $62 and it was a dodge job. Very Happy With JUST CUTS!!!!

Also some advice that has differing opinions. Hair colours that you buy from the chemist & supermarkets actually do harm to your hair. I have had several hairdressers tell me this. After discussions with my new found friend at Just Cuts, the colours that you can buy are very strong and can do damage. She advised me to go to Price Attack and have a chat with them as they sell salon quality hair colours. I’ll be going there tomorrow to finish off the new do!

The other funny thing is that I live 2 doors down from the parents of the hairdresser. She told me that she can remember my house being built and she used to baby sit the builder’s kids. Our house was built maybe 25 years ago and we are the 3rd owners. She asked me what we have done to the house and what our plans are etc. Her and her husband looked at buying it when is was on the market last year. She said she’ll tell her Mum that she met me and expects her Mum will come down and introduce herself. How very small is the world?
